Cargo ship rams into Amsterdam-Rhine Canal quay: fire brigade comes en masse to Kanaleneiland

A cargo ship rammed into a quay on the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal on Tuesday evening. The accident happened in Utrecht not far from the Dafne Schippersbrug. The fire brigade turned out en masse, because of possible hazardous substances on board. The accident happened around 9:45 p.m. According to a spokesperson for the Utrecht Security Region, the ship had probably just unloaded diesel when it went wrong. Initially there was a fear that a lot of fuel was still on board when the collision occurred near the Arnoldusguldenhof. The skipper of the boat managed to moor the vessel a little further after the collision, between De Meernbrug and the Prins Clausbrug, along Rooseveltlaan in Kanaleneiland. There is a jetty there and a vessel from Rijkswaterstaat could come to assess the damage. After the combination, five fire trucks arrived on the scene, because of the fear of dangerous substances. That turned out not to be the case. There were also no injuries. The cause of the accident is still unknown. Follow UtrechtGet a blending when there is news from/about Utrecht source
