Facts: Travel with dog

Norwegian Food Safety Authority has a good overview of which rules apply to traveling with animals. (If you are unsure which rules apply, you should contact the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and investigate which rules apply.)

You must follow the rules of the country’s veterinary authorities to which you are going. Dogs must be ID marked and have a passport, there are often fewer strict rules for us in Norway than other countries, because we have good animal health.

The strict travel rules for dogs are there to avoid the spread of disease, and especially rabies.

For dogs that will travel to Norway

from an EU country, an identity tag and a valid rabies vaccination are required, as well as treatment against the fox’s dwarf tapeworm. The dog must have a dog passport where all the information must be filled in by a veterinarian.
