A DoorDash driver was kidnapped and raped in Florida while trying to make a delivery, the Tampa Police Department said Thursday (21). The 20-year-old driver arrived at the Residence Inn hotel in Tampa on the night of April 18 when she was accosted by an armed man. He forced the victim to get back into the car at gunpoint and drive to another regional office, where she was sexually assaulted, police said.
When the man was approached, the young man had AirPods in his ears talking to his girlfriend, who realized that something was wrong. It was then that the victim’s relatives called the police, who went to the hotel where the kidnapping took place. “The victim’s family, who had been tracking her cell phone, arrived and rescued her from the car. The suspect responded by shooting several times, with one shot hitting a family member of the victim’s girlfriend, before fleeing the regional,” police said. in a statement. The two victims were taken to a nearby medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries.
Joseph Killins, 38, was arrested on Saturday (22) on suspicion of criminal offense. He was located during the investigation of another incident involving the robbery and assault of a woman outside the Residence Inn in Tampa. At regional, police found “items related to the April 18 investigation”.
