The route of the new line will primarily be served by 12-meter CNG buses with full-body air conditioning.
The Ostrava Transport Company (DPO) presented the previously promised details of the planned special bus line Airport Express marked at the stops and in the AE timetables. As the name of the line under license number 915083 suggests, it will connect selected Ostrava hotels near public transport stops with Leoš Janáček Airport. Financing will be provided by the city of Ostrava. DPO press spokesperson Tereza Šnoblová told Deník Zdopravy.cz. The line falls under the ODIS tariff. Passengers pay 25 crowns for transportation in the case of one ordinary short-term ticket. 12-meter CNG buses with full-body air conditioning will primarily be deployed on the routes. “We see the benefit of the line in two ways. On the one hand, we want Ostrava residents to have the opportunity to use a carrier that is a reliable and well-known partner for them, as well as competitive other options for transportation to the airport. It offers passengers space for a comfortable ride, even with luggage,
” said DPO CEO and Chairman of the Board Daniel Morys. The route of the line will go through the stops Hornopolní, Husův sad, Elektra, ÚAN, Městský stadium, hotel Bělský les, Dubina and Mošnov, Airport station. At the moment, there are seven scheduled weekly connections on the line there and seven back. They are supposed to follow the arrivals and departures of planes from Warsaw and London. In case of flight delays, the bus will wait for passengers within 60 minutes. “We perceive the introduction of the AE line as another important step towards the support and development of travel and tourism in Ostrava. A convenient connection between the airport and the city center with environmentally friendly public transport nowadays belongs to the standards of modern travel everywhere in the world,
” added Michael Seifert, Cluster General Manager of Imperial hotel Ostrava, Quality hotel Ostrava City and Clarion Congress hotel Ostrava.
