The hotel Nacional de Cuba responded with images of a new project to criticism for the demolition of the historic pool of the facility.
The day before it emerged that the hotel’s historic pool was demolished this week as part of an investment that is being made in the hotel, declared a National Monument in May 1998.
The art curator Abelardo Mena was alarmed by this fact and shared an image on Facebook of the state in which the pool was left after the demolition.
This Friday, the management of the tourist center posted photographs of a new strategy on his Facebook profile, dedicated to “lovers of the hotel Nacional de Cuba”, and said that they were “of the project conceived for our pool !!!”.
Likewise, he defended the new design as “a gift of image and comfort for a hotel that deserves it”.
Although some applauded the new project Others questioned the need to build a new pool in times of crisis.

On Thursday Mena recalled that in 1989 the Cuban authorities decided to keep the pool as a historical relic, because personalities who stayed at the hotel, hence the confusion over the decision to totally destroy it.
