Countdown at the station square in Villach. Today, Monday, the new Harry’s Home Hotel opens there. It is the first location of the Tyrolean chain, also in Villach has been building since 2021 and a total of 2, has invested 5 million euros 96 rooms and apartments are offered, which should be of particular interest to business travelers.
The hotel is part of a new district on the station square. The MaxPalais is being built on an area of 10,000 square meters. Part of the construction project are shops, local suppliers, medical facilities and a hotel– the harry’s house.

Further locations planned
The family-run hotel chain based in Innsbruck opened its first hotel in Graz 15 years ago and is now represented in Vienna, Munich and Zurich, among other places. “Further locations are already being repaired. In the next three years we will grow to 20 hotels,” reveals Harald Ultsch, founder, managing director and namesake of “harry’s house”.
For modern nomads
In Villach, Ultsch invests around 2 .5 million euros, who described “Harry’s House” as the “perfect home for modern nomads”. For people who travel a lot and know exactly what they need on the go.
Like breakfast, for example. If you don’t have much time, you don’t want an extensive buffet. On the other hand, if you are traveling with the family, you will be happy about a rich offer. And if you don’t have time at all, but you absolutely need a coffee in the morning, you can simply order a Nespresso machine in your room. “Produce your stay” is how Ultsch describes this modular principle. “On our website, our customers choose between five bookable studio types, add services or leave them out.” Room cleaning today and not tomorrow, kitchen yes or no. “ We take it the same way as in the car industry. If you configure a vehicle online, you can determine all possible features with just a few clicks.”
Conscious decision for Villach
Ultsch acts as managing director in Villach together with Heimo Daniel Prägant, a native of Carinthia. “He convinced me that Villach is the economically strongest area in the south”, says Ultsch, who is also convinced of the location. “ We already have existing operations near the train station. Because we believe that the train is the most important means of transport of the future. And Villach is the train station par excellence.”
