The Feminist March in Amsterdam In collaboration with NH News NOS News – yesterday, 19:07 Thousands of people participated in the first Feminist March in Amsterdam this afternoon. According to the organization, 4,000 to 5,000 people participated in the event, considerably more than the pre-estimated 1,500. Around 1 p.m., Dam Square was filled with fulfilled people. There was singing, dancing and speeches on stage. After about an hour and a half, the crowd moved through the Rokin and the Vijzelgracht to the Museumplein. “The journey went very peacefully, under a nice sun,” a spokesperson told the ANP. The march has been organized since 2017 in the run-up to International Women’s Day on March 8, but was previously called the Women’s March. “By continuing as Feminist March, we hope to send a clear message: feminism is not just for women,” the organization said beforehand. It was hoped that others “pass away being part of a marginalized group” would also feel addressed. A safe place An attendee told local channel AT5 that the name change was a good thing. “I think the march is a lot more inclusive this year. It’s not just about women, but also about people who identify differently.
